This painting began as a dark blue blended background. I wanted to paint the night sky originally. Then I began to think about all the light in the universe - the stars, elements burning bright at the heart of stars, nebula, dust clouds, comets, solar flares. The darkness of the universe is full of light, travelling as particles and captured through out eyes, cameras, and telescopes. This paintings is about that light. In particular, about seeking out the light.
