Green like the leaves of the ghost gum that sways in the breeze. Green like the Spinifex that spreads across country, as far as the eye can see. And green like the flocks of wild budgies looking for water. Green is the desert. Country is green.
Green is one of four small paintings. These paintings weren’t completed randomly. They were done with intention. They represent new beginnings. The first paintings I completed since the floods, since moving to Aotearoa fell by the wayside, and returning to Katherine. The first paintings completed in my new studio. They represent joy and hope - all the good things that are happening since my ancestors reminded me where I need to be and my purpose.
