Purple like the hue of dawn and dusk during winter. The first and last moments of daylight. My favourite time of day. A period of reflection and careful contemplation. The small joy of seeing the sky change. Witnessing the beauty of Country.
Purple is one of four small paintings. These paintings weren’t completed randomly. They were done with intention. They represent new beginnings. The first paintings I completed since the floods, since moving to Aotearoa fell by the wayside, and returning to Katherine. The first paintings completed in my new studio. They represent joy and hope - all the good things that are happening since my ancestors reminded me where I need to be and my purpose.
